A recent report from World Health Organization indicated 15.3% of the world’s population deals with one form of disability or the other. However, the last census report submitted by India indicated only 2.21% of the Indian population are disabled. If one thinks the figures mean we can all heave a sigh of relief now, think again. Case studies reveal the census officials hardly asked people questions on disability, thinking most of them would feel uncomfortable answering them. Therefore, it can be discerned the actual figures can be much higher.
